The School
Southall School of Languages and Missionary Orientation is an evangelical Christian language and Missions school that was set up in 1989 as part of the ministry of Southall Baptist Church.
Southall is an ideal place for such a school as it is a multi-cultural community offering the opportunity to learn amongst and about many cultures and nationalities, whilst being only twenty minutes from the centre of London and Heathrow International Airport. With the best of both worlds, students have the opportunity to make the most of the facilities and cultural events that the capital city has to offer, have good communications to the rest of the United Kingdom and enjoy the unique experience of living and studying in a diverse community such as Southall. Many nationalities are represented in Southall, with the predominant culture being Asian. Having had the privilege of receiving students from nearly every continent over the last 20 years the school is representative of the area in which it is situated.

The many races and religions represented in Southall offer the student the opportunity to experience and learn about and with those from a whole variety of cultures. The school welcomes students from all cultures and backgrounds. We accept it is important to respect each individual and their beliefs and culture whilst maintaining a Christian ethos.
Our emphasis is that of community. Whilst studying here students have the opportunity to relate to each other, the staff and others who are involved in the life of the school. One of the highest priorities for the school is that students are cared for during their studies whatever their background and situation. We believe that if a student is happy they will gain the most from their experience here in Southall and relate that to their future potential. It is important to all those involved in the life of the school community that all students should gain the most from their experience. Personal tutors are allocated to all students and pastoral care and counselling is available to any student that may require further help.
For students who wish to be involved in the life of the Church there are many opportunities for ministry and involvement in the various meetings and events that take place on Sundays and during the week. The Church is a reflection of the town in which it is located and there are many groups that meet that serve the different cultures, nationalities and languages represented in Southall. Small groups offer more individual times of ministry and the Church programme offers the whole family an opportunity to be involved if they wish.
With the caring attitude of the staff, the focus on community and the emphasis on the whole development of a student as well as their academic success the school is able to serve individual students and families preparing them for the future within a context of a caring community.
