English Courses

There are two main English Courses offered at Southall

General English Course

The course is available to students of every ability, with levels ranging from Elementary to Advanced. Experienced and fully qualified permanent teachers give tuition and practice in all areas: reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary. Each student is monitored to ensure their learning of English is broad and they progress in every area. Internal school examinations take place every term to assess an individual’s progress and students are able to train for the Cambridge ESOL Examinations: FCE (First Certificate in English) and CAE (Certificate in Advanced English). Enrolment is at any time.

General English Course for students wishing to study more than four weeks and less than one year

The English programme offered at Southall School of Languages and Missionary Orientation is taught by fully qualified, experienced, permanent teachers. The programme covers a whole spectrum of skills and learning abilities. The priority for all staff is that learning does not just take place within the context of the classroom. Every staff member endeavours to ensure that the learning experience of all students is one that will not only develop their language skills but also their life experience.

Intensive English Course 

This course is specifically to serve those students who wish to study and experience life in the cultural city of London.

15 hours English

9 hours special study in English for Special Purposes or Mission Studies

IELTS Course

Grading on the 'International English Language Testing System' (IELTS) is important in terms of British University entrance requirements. It is also recognised throughout the world and for gaining employment in multinational companies. The school has specific classes to prepare students for academic IELTS examinations. Students receive 15 hours tuition a week, focussing on general English and IELTS preparation.

Examination Classes

Examination classes are available to any student deemed to be ready to prepare for a Cambridge examination or IELTS. Testing will take place prior to entering an examination class and the class will mainly focus on those skills necessary to pass internationally recognised examinations, such as Cambridge First Certificate, Advanced, Proficiency or IELTS. Teachers are available to advise on the examinations available to students and offer help in this area.

Groups and Learning English for Specific Purposes

We encourage groups of students and will tailor a course to suit your group's needs. Special trips to places of interest and specific teaching requirements can be included to suit the group subject to your specific needs and requirements. The Director of Studies will contact you to discuss your requirements when you make your booking.

Discounts are offered to groups of 10 or more. For every group of ten the 11th place will be discounted upon receipt of the tuition fees before arrival. The course will be designed for your specific needs and can be any length.
